Innocent Shumba

Audit Committee Chair

Innocent Shumba is an EY Assurance partner in the Technology Industry practice, with more than 17 years of experience serving private and publicly held high-technology companies, ranging from fast growing pre-IPO entities to large multinational firms. He also leads EY’s growth market for private companies in the US West Region.

Shumba has extensive experience in areas including revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity accounting, business combinations, and SEC filings related to acquisitions and raising public equity and debt. His industry experience spans a broad range of industry sectors - from cleantech, life sciences, enterprise software companies, computer and peripheral manufacturers to semiconductor device companies. He also has significant experience performing audits of internal control over financial reporting and taking private companies public.

Shumba is currently a member of the National Advisory Council of the Marriott School and the Black Professional Network group’s (EY resource network group) Steering Committee, and serves as a board member of the African Diaspora Network and an advisory board member for Emergination Africa, a nonprofit organization focused on mentoring and developing African youth. He also is a member of the NACD Utah Chapter Board of Directors.

Shumba was awarded a master’s degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. He is a Registered Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants, Certified Fraud Examiners, Institute of Internal Auditors, Toastmasters International, and National Association of Black Accountants.
