What is the last book, podcast, article, or show you watched that really stuck with you?

"12 Rules for Life" by Jordan B. Peterson.

Coffee or tea?

Coffee.  (Cuban cafecito is the best!)

If you could give yourself advice on your first day as a board member, what would it be?

Listen.  Do your homework.  And then, listen some more.

What's the most memorable trip you've ever taken?

I have traveled to every continent except Antarctica.  Every trip taken has left a memory.  Traveling teaches us something we didn't know each time, and expands our appreciation of the diversity of humankind.

From your perspective, what are some key traits that the most effective board members possess?

Curiosity and a healthy skepticism.

If you could instantly become an expert in any skill or subject, what would it be?

Artificial Intelligence

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

When you start your career you start with five "silver nickels."  You can spend these nickels when making mistakes, but earn them with successes.  Try to never spend all your nickels!

What's the most interesting or unusual job you've ever had?

I was the first new VP of Safety for Transocean after the Deepwater Horizon incident.  Interesting and rewarding!

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

Leonardo da Vinci.  He was a genius of art, science, engineering, and invention, and I admire his curiosity and creativity.  I would love to share everything we've learned since he lived!

What's your favorite way to relax and unwind?

Listening to my vinyl record player with a good book.
