Austin Advisory Board Co-Chair

Hollie Castro is the chief people officer at Miro, an online workspace that enables distributed teams of any size to dream, design, and innovate together. She currently serves on the Austin advisory board of the NACD Texas TriCities Chapter, as well as the Texas A&M Mays School of Business advisory board. Previously, she served as a board member of Good FX, a privately held chronic disease management and wellness software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, as well as the Society for the Performing Arts of Houston. She is a former advisory board member for the Thunderbird School of Global Management and Caprock Academy. She has served as a corporate officer and management liaison to the compensation, nominating and governance, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) committees at three publicly traded companies: YETI, BMC Software, and Talisman Energy. Castro has held a series of executive roles managing multiple corporate functions: human resources; environment, social, and governance (ESG); communications; and real estate. She has worked at scale at companies like General Electric, Cisco, BMC Software, Talisman Energy, and YETI.

While at YETI, Castro established executive compensation and compensation committee practices for the newly public company, developed the first CDA of proxy, and achieved the first "for" vote on say on pay. During the initial public offering process in 2018, she was instrumental in defining strategies to scale the company from $500 million to a $7.5+ billion market cap. She also drove the company’s first ESG strategy, goals, and metrics. At BMC Software, Castro drove growth from $30 to $72 per share price and then took the company private to enable business model change to SaaS model. She also simplified executive compensation to achieve four years of for-vote say on pay, integrated 12 acquisitions and four divestures to drive growth strategies, and was the management member of the board director’s M&A committee. During her career, Castro has developed her expertise in global growth expansion strategy (at YETI, BMC Software, and Talisman) as well as in enterprise risk management and crisis management (at YETI, BMC Software, and Cisco) and has experience with shareholder activism.

Castro has extensive global experience leading teams in North America, Europe, and Asia. She earned her international master of business administration from Thunderbird University and is fluent in English, Italian, Portuguese, French, and Spanish. She has lived in five countries on three continents and spent extended time in Asia.

She has been a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors since 2013 and is NACD Directorship Certified®. In 2019, she was nominated for Women Profiles in Power for the Austin American-Statesman. In 2014, she was named as one of the Top 100 Board Candidates published by the Financial Times Group. In 2011, Castro was voted winner of HR Transformation by the High Tech Symposium of Silicon Valley as well as being nominated one of the “Women Worth Watching” by Diversity Magazine.
