Travis Wofford

Travis Wofford is a member of the Board of Directors for the NACD Texas TriCities Chapter and serves as the Houston Membership Committee Co-Chair. Since 2023, he has served as a board director for Lone Star Legal Aid. Previously, he served on the board for the Houston Bar Foundation, the charitable foundation of the Houston Bar Association and was a board director and the treasurer of the Houston Lawyer Referral Service from 2014-2020, a nonprofit sponsored by the Houston Bar Association to assist the community of the greater Houston area in access to justice.

Wofford is chair of the Corporate Department in Houston of Baker Botts LLP, deputy chair of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice, and a member of the firm’s Securities Opinion Committee. He is a trusted advisor to several public and private companies in the strategic transactions, capital raising activities, and SEC disclosure matters. He regularly counsels companies and their boards on fiduciary duty, sustainability and corporate governance matters, including controlling stockholder and related party transactions. Travis has assisted many clients in proxy planning and takeover defense, including "poison pill" rights plans. He has also advised issuers, underwriters and investors in novel, market-moving capital raising structures and liability management transactions. Travis has particular experience in the energy and technology sectors.

Wofford was named a 2021 Texas Trailblazer by Texas Lawyer Magazine/Law.com for his innovative financing structures, including those for renewable energy investments. He also represented Liberty Media Corp. in sponsoring the first public company-sponsored special purpose acquisition company for corporate financing purposes. Since 2018 he has served as a member of the Business Organizations Code Committee of Business Law Section of the Texas State Bar Association, which annually prepares, proposes, and reviews amendments to the business entity statutes for the State of Texas that, among other things, establish the fiduciary duty obligations of directors and officers of Texas entities. He is also a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions Committee of the American Bar Association.
