W. Roy Dunbar

W. Roy Dunbar is the founder of several private renewable energy and property development companies. He served as CEO and chair of Network Solutions between 2008 and 2010. Network Solutions, subsequently acquired by Web.com, was the original domain name registrar and provides a suite of web services for small and medium enterprises. Dunbar was formerly president of global technology and operations at MasterCard from 2004 to 2008 and also served as a member of the executive committee. Dunbar joined MasterCard from Eli Lilly, where he worked for 14 years, serving as president of the intercontinental region and earlier as chief information officer. As president of the intercontinental region, he oversaw all business operations in the world’s fastest growing economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, and China. He served as vice president and CIO from 1999 to 2003 and is credited with having led Eli Lilly to rank as the most innovative user of technology in the pharmaceutical industry. InformationWeek named him CIO of the Year in 2003. Born in Jamaica, Dunbar graduated from Manchester University in the United Kingdom with a pharmacy degree and a master of business administration degree from Manchester Business School . He joined Eli Lilly in Indianapolis and subsequently served in various management roles including, market research, marketing, sales, new product development, and information technology in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Venezuela. Dunbar is a strong leader with depth across several lines and functional disciplines. His leadership is characterized by cultural adaptability, learning agility, strong presence, and excellent communication skills. His career has spanned health care, information technology, payments, insurance, the internet, renewable energy, and the small business sector. His experience includes both the United States and international markets. Dunbar is a member of the board of directors at McKesson Corp., (NYSE: MCK), Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE: DUK), Johnson Controls International PLC (NYSE: JCI), and SiteOne Landscape Supply Inc. (NYSE: SITE). Previously he served on the boards of Humana (NYSE: HUM) until 2020, Lexmark International (NYSE: LXK) until its sale in 2016, iGate (NASDAQ: IGTE) until its sale in 2015, and EDS Corp. until its sale in 2008. He has served on several not-for-profit boards including the Executive Leadership Council, an organization supporting the development of African American corporate leaders, and was chair of its foundation board. Dunbar was named to the NACD Directorship 100™ in 2015 and is a NACD Board Leadership Fellow.
