Steven Aldrich

Board Chair, Oakland Roots Sports Club, Bay Area Glass Institute; Board Member, Blucora, Xero

Steven Aldrich is the chair of the Oakland Roots SC, a professional soccer team whose purpose is to harness the magic of Oakland and the power of sports as a force for social good. A women’s team, the Oakland Soul SC, started playing in 2023, and the next decade’s plan includes growing the franchise’s youth development programs and delivering real estate projects including a training facility, a 10,000+ seat stadium, and workforce housing to fill a critical need. Before focusing on soccer, Aldrich spent seven years at GoDaddy, the last three as chief product officer, helping grow the company from 10 million to 18 million total customers, from $1 billion to over $3 billion in revenue, and from a private to a public company. Aldrich started GoDaddy’s California offices when he sold his start-up Outright to the company in 2012. In 1996, Aldrich sold InsureMarket, an online insurance marketplace he co-founded, to Intuit and then spent over a decade in a variety of leadership roles helping Intuit grow its consumer and small business divisions. He serves on the boards of Avantax (Nasdaq: AVTA) and Xero (XRO.AX). He is also chair of the Bay Area Glass Institute, a nonprofit glass studio. Aldrich became NACD Directorship Certifiedâ„¢ in 2021. He loves spending time with his wife, Allison, and their son, Jackson, at many sports and arts events. Aldrich earned a master of business administration from Stanford University, where he was recognized as an Arjay Miller Scholar, and a bachelor of arts in physics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead-Cain Scholar and a co-captain of the fencing team.
