Sharon Manewitz

Principal and Executive Director, Manewitz Weiker Associates LLC

Sharon Manewitz is a founder of Manewitz Weiker Associates, LLC (MWA), a women-owned advisory firm established in 2008. MWA specializes in managing and resolving challenged investments, with a focus on Corporate Governance, Constituent Advocacy, and Risk Management. Sharon leads MWA’s Corporate Governance practice, where she serves as an independent director for companies of varying sizes, industries, and financial conditions.

Sharon began her finance career at Bankers Trust Company, gaining expertise in workouts, restructuring, and distressed investing. She later managed distressed investments at TIAA-CREF, the largest private pension fund, where she played a key role as an activist shareholder, successfully leading a proxy contest that unseated and replaced an underperforming board of a public company. She also advised on the New York State Insurance Commission’s disposition of assets from Executive Life Insurance Company of New York. Her current board involvement is a directorship appointment for a small, privately held restaurant company.

Sharon is an invited member and Subject Matter Expert of NACD’s Item Development Work Group, contributing her expertise to shape the Certified Director credential. She is active in the Turnaround Management Association, serving on its membership and governance committees for the New York Chapter and co-chairing the Annual TMA Global Turnarounds & Transactions Awards Committee. Additionally, she volunteers as Chair of the Advisory Council for FamilyKind LLC, a nonprofit supporting families experiencing separation and divorce.

Sharon holds a BA in Art History from Hunter College and an MBA in Corporate Financial Management from Pace University. She earned a Corporate Governance Certificate from NYU’s School of Professional Studies and is a Certified Director with the National Association of Corporate Directors.
