Savita Subramanian

Savita Subramanian is a managing director, head of US Equity Strategy and Head of US Quantitative Strategy, based in New York and Charlotte. She is responsible for determining forecasts for the S&P 500, recommending US sector allocations for equities, and developing the firm’s quantitative equity strategy. She markets these materials to institutional, corporate and individual clients on a regular basis. She also spearheaded and continues to play an active role in Global Research’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) efforts. Subramanian joined Merrill Lynch in 2001 as an associate on the Research team. She has been ranked in the Institutional Investor survey for the last 11 years, and ranked in the top 3 in Portfolio Strategy, Quantitative Research and ESG Strategy. Subramanian is a frequent commentator and guest host on media outlets, and has been named by Barron’s in the 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance since 2021. Subramanian is active in recruiting across her alma mater and a broad array of universities, and is the co-chair of the Global Research Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Subramanian started her career as an analyst at Scudder Kemper Investments in New York and San Francisco. Subramanian received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley. She received an MBA from Columbia University. Subramanian sits on the board of U.C.L.A., MFE and is on the Membership Committee of the Quantitative Group.
