SVP and Chief Transformation Officer, HCA Healthcare

Michael Schlosser, MD, MBA, is Senior Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer at HCA Healthcare, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. He leads enterprise-wide digital transformation and innovation, guiding the design, development, integration, implementation, and optimization of technologies and processes to drive clinical, administrative, and operational improvements. His overarching goal is to enhance the experience and outcomes for HCA Healthcare’s leaders, colleagues, care teams, and patients.

Dr. Schlosser oversees clinical informatics and implementation, and directs HCA Healthcare’s artificial intelligence, machine learning teams, and data office. He collaborates closely with Information Technology leadership and strategic partners to leverage next-generation data platforms—such as the Intelligence Net—to create real-time, data-driven clinical operations.

His previous roles were Senior Vice President, Care Transformation and Innovation, launching HCA’s first digital transformation initiatives; Chief Medical Officer for HCA’s National Group and, leading clinical operations for more than 100 acute care facilities across 14 states, overseeing quality, patient outcomes, clinical strategy, and innovation. He was also the first Chief Medical Officer for HealthTrust.

Dr. Schlosser is a neurosurgeon, completing his residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins, has served as a medical officer with the FDA, and holds a degree in chemical engineering from MIT and an MBA from Vanderbilt.
