Lori Traweek
Energy Industry Independent Board Director
Engaged in the energy industry for over 39 years, Lori Traweek is a respected industry leader and spokesperson with an extensive understanding of the energy business and experience in organizational management. Traweek retired from the American Gas Association (AGA) where she was the chief operating officer. She currently serves on the boards of directors for TRC Companies Inc., GTI Energy, and Picarro Inc.—all entities dedicated to developing and implementing effective technologies and practices that will help achieve safe, environmentally sustainable and reliable energy delivery.
Traweek has helped develop and advocate for groundbreaking, reasonable, and effective pipeline safety, cyber and physical security and environmental regulations, legislation, and voluntary programs. She has represented the industry globally and nationally before the US Congress, regulatory bodies, and policymakers. Working collaboratively with utility executives across the country, she has been integrally involved in strategic planning initiatives and identifying operational best practices. Driving culture change at AGA, Traweek helped the organization be recognized as a Top Workplace by the Washington Post for seven consecutive years.
Traweek is a member of the Stevens Institute of Technology President’s Leadership Council and NACD. She previously served on the boards of directors for the National Energy Foundation and the Center for Energy Workforce Development. Early in her career, Traweek worked for Arco Oil and Gas, where she was responsible for the design and oversight of offshore and on-site production projects and was a member of the initial safety and environment team that was responsible for bringing the Arco Plano Research Facility into compliance with company procedures and federal regulations.
Traweek holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and a bachelor of science in communications from Ithaca College.
