Vice Chair - Alliance Strategies
Larraine Segil is a seasoned entrepreneurial executive, experienced public & private corporate board director, with general management experience and particular expertise in strategic alliances and leadership on which she has written 5 books. Larraine has served on several public boards - Frontier Communications (2005-2017) and CalPrivate Bank (2020-2022) and has served as Chair of the Nom/Gov and Compensation Committees. She has served as Chair for PE backed Kandela (sold to a SPAC), on Vanir Construction (privately held over $100m) and now is Vice Chair of Alliance Strategies (a private global executive placement firm). Larraine served on the board of the NACD Pacific Southwest Chapter for 9 years, also serving as Chair of the Nom/Gov Committee. She has been an Adjunct Professor at Southwestern School of law and The Straus Center for Conflict Resolution at Pepperdine, as well as a Senior Research Fellow at IC2, University of Texas, Austin. She taught Executive Education at Caltech on Strategic Alliances for 24 years. Segil served on the Tropical Diseases Special Advisory Group on Alliances (SAAG), in Kuwait and Geneva for UNICEF/UNDP/World Bank/World Health Organization (WHO) 2009 -2012 Her business experience spans multiple industries. She was CEO of healthcare chain Airport Urgent Care which she started, built and sold; CEO of an Advanced Materials Company which she turned around and sold, and was Partner and board member of Vantage Partners LLC, a strategic alliances and negotiation advisory company out of the Harvard Project on Negotiation. Ms. Segil holds a BA, a Graduate Honors Degree in Latin and Classics, and JD & MBA. Born in South Africa, Ms. Segil immigrated to the USA in 1974. She created three endowment funds for scholarships for women in strategic alliances at the JDMBA program at Drucker School of Management & Southwestern School of Law, at Pepperdine Business School Presidential Key Executive MBA Program, and the third at Kingsmead School for Girls, Johannesburg South Africa.
