John Gelinne, managing director, Deloitte & Touche LLP, is in the Cyber Risk Services Strategy, Defense & Response practice leads Deloitte’s global Cyber Incident Readiness, Response and recovery offering that helps organizations to rapidly adapt and respond to dynamic changes, disruptions, or threats.  His leadership directly contributes to the generation of over $6B annually, with an average of 16%-20% YoY growth for 10 consecutive years.  He has global span of control/leadership and authority across 7 geographic regions, a network of member firms which encompass more than 150 countries and territories and over 3000+ cyber risk practitioners.  He is a trusted advisor in cybersecurity risk to Fortune 100 C-suite executives, corporate boards and audit committees across a broad set of industries including financial, power and utilities, health care and technology.

John joined Deloitte after retiring from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. John’s last tour in the Navy was Chief of Fleet Cyber Command where he played a pivotal role in defending the Navy’s network against an advanced cyber threat.

John has been published in U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings, Deloitte Review, Dark Reading and the Wall Street CIO Journal on topics ranging from building resilience to cyber wargaming.  He was also co-author of Deloitte’s recent “Beneath the Surface of a Cyber Attack, a study where he describes the hidden costs associated with a cyber breach.

John holds advanced degrees in Info Systems Management and National Security and has an undergraduate degree in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.
