John Dougall
Utah State Auditor
John Dougall is Utah’s elected State Auditor, serving since January 7, 2013. John believes the Office of State Auditor should provide Utah taxpayers and government officials with an independent assessment of financial operation, statutory compliance, and performance management for state and local government. He is a champion of good governance.
Before his tenure as State Auditor, John spent a decade in the Utah House of Representatives, where he served as the Vice Chair of powerful Executive Appropriations committee. He has been a strong advocate for tax reform, transparent government, performance management, fiscal responsibility, and educational freedom. His leadership roles included chairing both the House Revenue & Taxation Committee and the House Ethics Committee as well as co-chairing the Health & Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee.
John also has an extensive background in technology, with experience in both large corporations and small startups, in various management and technical roles. He holds an MBA from BYU as well as a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering, also from BYU. Passionate about pursuing new challenges, John is current a 3L at the Syracuse College of Law.
