As a partner with Ernst & Young LLP, Jeff S. Sallet primarily focuses on forensic services and investigations in the Northeast and Chicago, building on a 30-year career in which he became Associate Deputy Director of the FBI — the bureau’s Chief Operating Officer and third-highest position. Jeff delivered an innovative investigative approach incorporating forensic accounting techniques with traditional investigative methods to probe the hierarchy of a New York organized-crime family. He also investigated the 9/11 attacks and Boston Marathon bombing. With leadership roles in Boston, Chicago and New Orleans, he led bureau-wide efforts on compliance, risk management, diversity, and inclusiveness. Crisis response Co-led financial investigations related to the 9/11 attacks, including worldwide asset tracing.  Coordinated the law enforcement response and investigation into the Boston marathon bombing, identifying and capturing the suspects in just over four days — and then led the efforts to secure the event the year after. Led the response to drive intensive police training, community outreach and increased civil-rights-related resources in the wake of unrest in Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore, Maryland and the tragic mass shooting in Charleston, South Carolina. Rapidly developed policies and procedures for the FBI to maintain workforce resiliency globally amid COVID-19 and continue fulfilling its enforcement and counterterrorism responsibilities. Crisis preparedness  Prepared security for the 2016 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans on six months’ notice after the event was moved.  Coordinated state, local and federal resources to detect, deter and prevent potential violence during Mardi Gras using practical exercises, SWAT teams, intelligence assets, and other assessments.  Lectures worldwide on crisis preparedness and response and is frequently interviewed by the media, including the “Inside the Hunt for the Boston Bombers” documentary.
