David is a legal executive with over 21 years’ experience with public and high-growth private companies, and global law firms. He is currently the Vice President, Legal - Tech Transformation & Innovation at HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA).  In this role he advises on legal, compliance and risk mitigation strategies around HCA’s digital health initiatives and transformation of patient care by leveraging AI and other emerging technologies. He also serves as Co-Chair of the Responsible AI Steering Committee, advising on AI governance and data stewardship matters.  David’s prior roles leading global legal and compliance teams include serving as Chief Counsel of Software, Cloud and AI, and Chief Privacy Officer at Varian (formerly, NYSE: VAR), a medical device company since acquired by Siemens. He also served as Chief Legal Officer of a venture-backed AI/ML enabled AdTech company called Moloco, as well as General Counsel at Aptean, a private equity-backed CRM SaaS company. David was awarded “Deal Maker of the Year” by the Association of Corporate Counsel for driving inorganic growth at Aptean. 

David began his legal career in private practice focusing on corporate, securities and M&A with DLA Piper and Mayer Brown. He earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, and B.A. in Politics from Occidental College.
