David Chun

David Chun has led Equilar since its inception to become one of the most trusted names in the corporate governance community. Chun has been recognized as part of the NACD Directorship 100™, with the Disruptor Award by 2020 Women on Boards, and part of the Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business by the Asian American Business Development Center. Chun speaks publicly on corporate governance and board diversity matters, including events hosted by The Conference Board, Deloitte, EY, HR Policy Association, KPMG, NACD, Nasdaq, the NY Stock Exchange, The Society for Corporate Governance, and the Stanford Directors’ College.
Chun serves on the boards of the Commonwealth Club of California, PGA of America Reach Foundation, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. He is on Nasdaq’s Center for Board Excellence advisory board and the Catalyst Women on Board advisory council. Chun is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization, including past chair of the SF Bay Chapter; a founding member of the Council of Korean Americans; and a former board member of the Wharton Center for Entrepreneurship and the Asian Pacific Fund Community Foundation of San Francisco.
Before founding Equilar, Chun was a vice president in the investment banking division of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, a global investment bank that has since merged with Credit Suisse. Before that, he was a management consultant with Bain & Co. and also Kenan Systems, a telecom software developer acquired by Lucent Technologies.
Chun earned his master of business administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor of science with honors in systems engineering from the University of Virginia.
