Chris Oddleifson is a Director, NACD New England and Director and CEO emeritus, Independent Bank Corp/Rockland Trust Company.
During his 20 years of leadership, Rockland Trust’s assets grew from $2.3 billion to nearly $20 billion, with profitability, assets under management, and market capitalization increasing tenfold. During Chris’s tenure, the bank’s stock performance significantly outpaced industry benchmarks. His focus on talent and team development, along with fostering a respectful, caring, and relationship-oriented corporate culture, earned Rockland Trust numerous accolades, including recognition by The Boston Globe as a "Top Place to Work" for 14 consecutive years and the #1 ranking in Customer Satisfaction with Retail Banking in New England by J.D. Power.
In addition to his role with NACD New England, Chris is actively involved in various industry and community organizations. He serves on the Finance and Strategy Committees of South Shore Health, the Finance and Land Conservation Committees of the Trustees of Reservations, and two local municipality committees. He also co-chairs a capital campaign committee for a local organic farm.
Chris has held leadership roles as Chairman of the Massachusetts Bankers Association, the Massachusetts Housing Partnership, South Shore Hospital, the South Shore Health Foundation, Cape Cod Community College, and the United Way of Greater Plymouth County Campaign Cabinet. His past board memberships include the Boston Federal Reserve Bank Community Development Institution Advisory Council, the Old Colony Council Boy Scouts of America, and the New England Council.
Before joining Rockland Trust, Chris was President of First Union Home Equity Bank, a national banking subsidiary of First Union Corporation, and Executive Vice President overseeing Consumer Banking at Signet Bank in Richmond, VA. He also worked as a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton.
Chris holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
