Bob is a managing director and founded The McCarthy Wealth Group to focus on the needs of executives, entrepreneurs, professional athletes and their families. He began his extensive financial services career in New York City in 1989 and joined RBC Wealth Management in 2000. As a wealth manager, Bob, along with his partner Grant and associates Adrienne, Josh, and Ally, are members of RBC Private Wealth, an ensemble of global resources and customized advice, designed to meet the unique needs of high-net-worth clients. He is also a member of the Senior Portfolio Manager group – Portfolio Focus, a group of selected advisors who have the experience, integrity and commitment to service to take full discretion over investment portfolios.
Bob holds the Accredited Wealth Manager (AWM) designation sponsored jointly by RBC and Michigan State University. The AWM designation is attained by advisors who focus on complex wealth management issues including wealth transfer, financial and estate planning, trust services and insurance. Bob earned a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University, has passed the Series 7, 6, and 65 exams, and maintains his insurance licenses.
Bob is a consistent member of RBC Wealth Management’s Chairman’s Council, an honor bestowed to the top 150 financial advisors in the firm, and in 2023 was named to the Premier Council. Bob is active with numerous charitable organizations, especially those focused on education and junior golf.
A native of Spring Lake, New Jersey, Bob resides in the Raleigh area with his wife, Denise, and their four children. He enjoys spending time with his family in Hilton Head Island, watching the Villanova Wildcats, and playing golf.
