Angela Hoon joined Advance Audit Parts as SVP, Audit, Risk & Asset Protection in June 2020. She leads the Internal Audit team to provide objective assurance to management, delivering risk-based audits that are foundational to the transformation of Advance. The Enterprise Risk Management program is focused on integrating a risk view into strategic decisions and projects by using a risk lens to analyze and understand business risks. Asset Protection has professional, retail and DC teams focused on protecting our assets and inventory accuracy, proactive crisis response and investigating fraud and abuse. Prior to joining Advance, Angela successfully transformed and rebranded the Global Strategic Risk Management Program at General Motors (2015-2019) to be an innovative and leading-edge program by using a risk lens to help the business in analyzing critical complex cross functional challenges. She provided regular updates to the Risk Committee of the Board of Directors. The team developed workshop techniques such as Network Analysis, Pre-mortems, Scenario Analysis, Wargaming, Game Theory and Design Thinking to help business analyze and understand risk. From 1999-2015, Angela was principal in the risk advisory practice for KPMG USA, focused on ERM, Internal Audit and SOX across industries. She started her career as a Charter accountant at KPMG (South Africa).
