About The Event
Please join us, as we partner with UCLA Anderson Executive Education, for our annual Corporate Directors Symposium. Our theme this year is "Building Resilience: Seizing Opportunity".
Keynote:
Building resilience and seizing opportunity are cornerstones of Rick Hernandez's distinguished and long-standing board service as a director on some of the most respected and largest global companies.
He will share insights and experiences as well as stories of value to enhance our effectiveness when we, as board directors, are presented with opportunities and challenges to build resilience in companies and cultures.
Session 1:
Diana Ingram will moderate a thought-provoking discussion with Kristy Pipes and Patrick Huston, examining different perspectives of board risk oversight in a global networked world. This panel will discuss the board’s evolving role in risk management in an increasingly networked world, and effective planning and oversight over unexpected and systemic risks. Kristy and Diana will share their experiences on increasing risk oversight, and Patrick will share his perspectives on emerging global threats from a governance perspective, gained from an active military leadership career.
Session 2:
During this interactive session, Kate Duchene, CEO and board member at RGP will lead a conversation with Bob Eckert, former Chairman of the Board and CEO of Mattel and current board member at Amgen, Levi Strauss and McDonald’s regarding the role humans and culture play in building and maintaining a resilient organization. Kate and Bob will share lessons learned from challenging situations they have encountered during their careers, with a particular focus on board governance, and will entertain questions and comments from the audience to further the discussion.
Session 3:
This session will explore the potential strategic and operational impact of Artificial Intelligence. Panelists Dinkar Jain, Senior Director of Marketplace Technologies, Uber; Kate Gebo, Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Labor Relations, United Airlines; and moderator Ashwin Rangan, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, ICANN will consider AI's opportunities for advancement including customer and employee attraction and care, product and service development, and risk management. They will also identify potential concerns and exposures.
Session 4:
This session is a fireside chat featuring long-time UCLA Anderson School leader Dr. Al Osborne (the NACD 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient). Focused on the topic of “Seizing Opportunities: Investor Views of Growth Opportunities and Strategies”, this discussion will explore the evolving global economic environment, prominent trends driving potential corporate growth, and associated expectations for financial and transaction markets. With capital sources representing a critical stakeholder for both large and medium sized enterprises, this discussion will provide directors with valuable context for strategy development and oversight.
An additional speaker for this session will be confirmed shortly.
