LGBTQ+ Directors Coffee Cohort

LGBTQ+ people occupy an estimated 0.7% of board seats in the U.S. The inaugural report from Association of LGBTQ+ Corporate Directors identified three obstacles to greater inclusion in the boardroom: a lost generation, a network gap and some remaining misconceptions about LGBTQ+ professionals.

This discussion between the Association's Executive Director, Fabrice Houdart, and Richard Socarides, the first openly gay man to ever serve in a prominent White House staff position, where they explored the report findings, solutions to overcome these barriers, and success stories. They also covered the current pressure on the corporate world around Pride 2023 and how it affects LGBTQ+ representation efforts.

One of the goals of NACD Northern California is to promote diversity and representation on boards, including representation of LGBTQ individuals. Corporate directors can play a role in advocating for increased diversity on boards and creating a supportive environment for LGBTQ individuals throughout the organizations they work with. Therefore, we formed a quarterly virtual coffee cohort for LGBTQ directors, aspiring directors and allies to form a community, share their experiences and connect on a personal basis.
