About The Event
NACD Northern California's "Future Director Evolution: Technology and Other Advances in Healthcare" event supported rich discussion around the future of health-care and what board directors can do to make the largest impact. Key topics discussed include:
- Technological Advancements: The future of health care is filled with excitement about technological advancements, such as enablers and new frontiers that can drive increased Thank you to our generous sponsor for hosting this event:equity and impact in the industry.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) Is a Game Changer: AI is a significant game changer in health-care technology, with discussions focusing on its transformative potential and whether health-care requires fundamentally different tech solutions compared to other sectors.
- Technology in the Boardroom: There was a consensus among the directors that while technology specialization is required for the boardroom and potentially to have its own committee, all directors need to enhance their technology knowledge and capabilities to effectively strategize and ask the right questions in this quickly evolving landscape.
- Driving Impact and Quality: There's a shared passion for leveraging technology to accelerate the pace and improve the quality of health-care delivery. Many are exploring how to adopt a more “tech company” mindset, emphasizing iterative approaches over radical transformations and setting ambitious goals (like “moonshots”) while reducing administrative processes and overhead costs.
- Humanity Vs. Scaling: There was a strong emphasis on maintaining human-centric care and considering equity within health-care technology initiatives. The aim is to blend technological advancements with compassionate and equitable practices, both now and into the future.
A special thank you to our wonderful hosts Logan McDougal, Janice Pai, and Scott Texeira for guiding the conversation and bringing us together.
