Jim Skinner

Jim Skinner is the retired vice chairman of Neiman Marcus Group (NMG), a $4 billion luxury fashion retailer. He has also served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for NMG. During his 15 years with NMG, he has had responsibilities for numerous areas, including finance, accounting, strategy, business development, distribution and logistics, real estate and construction, investor relations, legal, and information technology.
Skinner led the process for both the 2005 $4.8 billion public-to-private sale and the 2013 dual tract process that led to the private-to-private $6.3 billion sale of NMG. He has led numerous acquisition teams, including the NMG acquisition of Munich-based fashion ecommerce retailer myTheresa.
Prior to NMG, Skinner was with CompUSA ($6 billion in revenue), a pioneer in computer retailing, holding various positions, including executive vice president and chief financial officer. He joined CompUSA shortly before the initial public offering and left after the sale of the company in 2000. He began his career with EY, an international professional services firm, where he served for 16 years, including the last four years as a partner.
Skinner is on the board of directors of Fossil Group (NASDAQ: FOSL), Hudson Ltd. (NYSE: HUD), and Ares Commercial Real Estate (NYSE: ACRE). He has served as chairman of Audit, Compensation, and Finance Committees. He is also on the Advisory Board of RevTech, an incubator/accelerator focused on the retail technology.
