Derek McClain

Director

Derek McClain is an independent director and consultant. He began his career with the law firm of Vinson & Elkins LLP, where he practiced corporate finance and securities law from 1981 through 1997.

In 1998, McClain joined Trammell Crow Co. as its general counsel after having served as the company’s lead outside counsel in connection with its initial public offering. In 2000, he was named chief financial officer of Trammell Crow and served in that position until the company was sold to CBRE in 2006. Since 2007, McClain has served as a director of Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. and from time to time other public and private companies. At Mutual of Omaha, he chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Corporate Governance Committee. In addition to Mutual of Omaha, McClain currently serves as a director of the McShane Cos., a trustee of The Fund for American Studies, and a director of the NACD North Texas Chapter.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Computer Science Concentration from the University of Kansas and earned his Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor from the University of California-Berkeley.
