Kevin Williams

Kevin W. Williams was appointed president and CEO of Global Automotive Alliance Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management in September 2019. In this role, Kevin is a corporate board member and leads all operations of the company. Prior to joining GAA Alliance Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management, Kevin was most recently chairman, president, and managing director of General Motors (GM) of Canada Ltd. He was responsible for leading all General Motors operations in Canada, with revenues of $18.7B. Prior to this role, Kevin served as GM vice president and general manager of service and parts operations, where he oversaw all GM global aftersales businesses, with global revenues of $14.2B annually, and served as chairman and global process leader for the GM automotive aftermarket strategy board.

Kevin held global senior roles at GM. He served as chairman, president, and managing director of GM de Mexico; GM North America vice president of quality; global executive director, supplier quality, development, and supplier diversity for worldwide purchasing, and held that same position for GM Europe based in Russelsheim, Germany, with responsibilities spanning 22 countries and 2,700 employees.

Kevin began his GM career in 1983 as a reliability analyst at Buick Motor’s division in Flint, MI. In 1989, he became the general supervisor of production at the Lansing Craft Centre in Lansing, MI; and in 1991 was appointed program readiness manager for GM’s first electric vehicle program (EV1).

Kevin has been married for 34-plus years to Arlene Pope Williams and resides in Nashville, TN. They have two daughters, Alisa Williams, a graduate of Yale University; and Kaylyn Williams, a recent graduate of Yale University, achieving a master’s degree in political science with a concentration in urban and health policy.

Kevin is a member of the NACD Nashville Advisory Board; board director of Kaiser Aluminum; director of the executive board of GAA Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management; and director of the executive board of Tennessee State University Foundation. He is a former director of the board of advisors of the White House Initiative on HBCUs; a trustee of the American Medical Association; and vice chairman of the board of directors of the United Negro College Fund Foundation.

Kevin was the commencement speaker for Texas College in Tyler, TX, in 2018; an inductee of the United States Black College Hall of Fame in Atlanta, in 2012; Driven Magazine’s “Most Influential Executive in Automotive” in 2011; and recipient of the Trailblazer Award at the Rainbow Push Automotive Symposium in Detroit and the Men of Excellence Award from Michigan Chronicle Publication in Detroit, both in 2010. He was named Executive of the Year (finalist) in On-Wheels Magazine and Detroit Magazine in 2005.

Kevin was awarded an honorary doctor of humane letters from Texas College in June 2018. He completed the General Motors Senior Executive Development Program in 2002-2005. Kevin graduated from Central Michigan University in 1990 with a master of science in administration and Tennessee State University in 1983 with a bachelor of business administration.
