Michael Schaeffer is a member of Houlihan Lokey’s financial and valuation advisory business. He has more than a decade of experience providing advisory services to public and private clients related to mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, spinoffs, asset sales, and employee-stock-ownership-plan-related transactions. Schaeffer is also active in the firm’s transaction opinion practice, rendering fairness and solvency opinions to companies, boards of directors, special committees, and other constituents.

Schaeffer has experience in a variety of industries, including food and consumer products, health care, financial institutions, chemicals, telecommunications, aerospace and defense, engineering and construction, and manufacturing.

Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Schaeffer worked in RSM’s business valuation practice, where he provided valuations for gift and estate tax planning, financial reporting, and litigation support.

Schaeffer holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in finance and accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also an accredited senior appraiser, certified in business valuation, of the American Society of Appraisers.
