Julian Ha has served on the Board of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Capital Area Chapter since 2016. Specifically, he serves on the Member Engagement and Nominating & Governance Committees.
Ha is a partner and practice leader with Heidrick & Struggles, based in Washington, D.C. He leads the firm’s Government Affairs and Association Practices and places CEOs and senior executives into public and private firms and member-driven organizations across all industries and sectors.
Ha has extensive private and not-for-profit (NFP)/association board experience. On the private sector side, he has served on the Board of China Recycling Energy Corporation (CREG), a NASDAQ-listed cleantech company where he chaired the compensation committee; and Propulsys, a privately held, precision manufacturing company with operations in the United States, Germany, and China. On the NFP side, in addition to NACD, he is currently a board member of the Public Affairs Council and US-ASEAN Business Council. He also serves on the global Board of AESC, which represents the entire retained executive search and leadership consulting profession.
Prior to executive search, Ha practiced as a corporate lawyer in New York; Washington, D.C.; London; Singapore; and Shanghai. As a lawyer for Paul Weiss, Baker & McKenzie, and Linklaters, he advised multinational corporations on their IPOs, private equity investments, and cross-border M&A transactions. He has also served as a director in the Corporate Finance group of Evolution Securities China Limited, an investment bank based in London.
Ha received his Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University, his master’s degrees from the London School of Economics and Harvard University, and his JD from The NYU School of Law. He attained a Certificate in Corporate Finance from The London Business School and holds an NACD Certificate of Director Education. He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, D.C.
