E. Shepard Farrar is a financial expert and 30-year board director and advisor. She’s managed multibillion dollar institutional funds for the Inter-American Development Bank, National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust, United Mine Workers of America Health and Retirement Funds, and regional banks (Riggs and CoreStates Financial Corp.). She’s analyzed electric utility, energy, infrastructure, real estate, and other industries and worked in highly regulated bank, development, and fund entities. Her board experience includes advising corporate and financial entities on funding, investment, and risk policies, leading and serving on nonprofit boards of endowment, foundation, industry and global nonprofits, and being a member of audit, finance, governance, program, and risk committees. Besides NACD’s Capitol Area Advisory Board, she currently serves on the boards of Reall Ltd. (a UK-based sustainable housing nonprofit working in Africa and Asia), the North American Invasive Species Management Association, and the Memton Fund (a family foundation working across the United States).
