Minutes for virtual meetings
The Covid-19 virus has disrupted travel across the world, impacting the boardroom in multiple ways. While travel restrictions exist in many countries, directors still need to convene and discuss both critical and normal business items. Many boards and their corporate secretaries will be required to engage in a rapid learning process in order to make the switch to virtual board meetings.
1. Choosing the right platform for the meeting
When deciding to host a board meeting that is not in person, there are two alternatives boards can consider: an audio-only teleconference or a web-based platform that includes video and other features. Holding a board meeting via teleconference may be more intuitive for board members as it simply requires them to dial in to the meeting. Virtual board meetings offer directors the ability to see one another face-to-face, which helps facilitate more natural conversation and can help keep directors engaged in the meeting.
