Vanessa Pegueros currently serves on the boards of LivePerson, Boeing Employee Credit Union (BECU), and Prisidio and is a board observer for Vouched.id. Through her appointment to the LivePerson board, Vanessa became familiar with the activist process. At BECU, she gained experience related to the CEO transition process, and as a former board member of Carbon Black, she was a part of the $2.1 billion sale of Carbon Black to VMware, where she gained valuable merger and acquisition experience. Vanessa is a venture partner at Flying Fish Partners, a venture capital firm focusing on artificial intelligence/machine learning early-stage companies. In addition to her public/private board work, Vanessa also serves on the boards of Forterra and the National Association of Corporate Directors Northwest Chapter, and she is a former board member of Washington Trails Association, the nation's largest state-based hiking nonprofit organization.

Vanessa has more than 30 years of experience managing technology, security, privacy, and risk teams in a variety of verticals, giving her a unique perspective as a business leader and in serving on corporate boards. Enabled by her operational experience and ability to execute, she has been successful in leading companies through their technology and risk challenges. She has accomplished this through the definition of effective strategy and by building high-performance teams to respond to dynamic business environments. 

Vanessa brings strong interpersonal skills and is recognized for her ability to promote open communication and inspire collaboration. Her empowering and decisive leadership style, coupled with her business acumen, have enabled a solid track record of constructively and successfully addressing difficult situations.

She has broad experience working at a global level with start-ups as well as Fortune 500 companies. She understands highly structured and regulated cultures as well as more dynamic and innovative cultures. She has held roles in engineering, sales, product development, information technology, and operations at financial services, telecommunications, e-commerce and software-as-a-service companies, including Sprint, AT&T Wireless, US Bank, Expedia, DocuSign, and OneLogin.

At DocuSign, she led the team through a hyper-growth period, including the company’s initial public offering, and ensured that the pillar of security was a key differentiator in the marketplace. Her understanding of the international regulatory environment has allowed her to lead and develop effective global security and compliance teams.

Vanessa was named the 2020 Director of the Year by Puget Sound Business Journal, one of the Agenda Diversity 100 in 2021, one of the Women in IT Security by SC Media in 2021, one of the Most Inspiring Women in Cyber for 2021, and one of the Top 100 LGBT+ Executives in 2021.

Vanessa earned a master of business administration from Stanford University, a master of science in telecommunications from University of Colorado, Boulder, and a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
