Lara Abrash is the chair of Deloitte US, the largest professional services organization in the United States with more than 170,000 professionals. Lara was elected to this role in June 2023 after serving four years as the chair and CEO of Deloitte & Touche LLP, where she was responsible for overseeing the US audit and assurance (A&A) business. Lara is a member of Deloitte Global’s board of directors and chair of the Deloitte Foundation, which supports education through a variety of initiatives designed to help develop the talent of the future and promote excellence in teaching, research, and curriculum innovation.
In her role as the chair of Deloitte US, Lara is responsible for leading the board of directors and governing all aspects of the organization. Driven by its purpose, to make an impact that matters, Deloitte leverages its multidisciplinary model as a source of strength to offer an unparalleled range of offerings, services, and capabilities to help its clients and people reach their full potential. Lara is instrumental in helping the world’s greatest companies solve the complex issues shaping our world today. She is deeply committed to Deloitte, the profession, and the broader community and she frequently speaks on critical business and societal topics such as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); environmental, social, and governance; generative AI; workplace transformation; and capital trust.
Lara has served in a number of leadership roles during her career at Deloitte while maintaining significant client responsibilities for some of the organization’s largest and most complex clients. Her leadership philosophy is based on her deep understanding of multinational clients in various industries, her leadership roles and experiences, and her passion for advancing innovation and inclusion in the profession.
During her tenure as A&A CEO, Lara successfully transformed the business into the quality and innovation leader in the profession. Most notable was her commitment to DEI and her vision to launch Making Accounting Diverse and Equitable (MADE), Deloitte’s $75 million commitment to fueling greater racial and ethnic diversity in the accounting profession.
Lara’s leadership extends to her community and other important causes. Her passion for sports and DEI come together through her involvement with the Jackie Robinson Foundation, which educates and inspires the general public about the ideals embodied in the life of its namesake. Lara is a licensed certified public accountant in New York and New Jersey and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and a master of business administration from Baruch College.
