Bob Jacobson is principal of RSM US LLP. He is a west market enterprise account leader, responsible for helping to align complex client issues and RSM services to drive value. Bob helps oversee RSM professionals in the areas of risk consulting, technology and financial advisory, and business transformation. He also helps direct the growth and strategic planning efforts for the private equity practice in the Southern California market. As an enterprise account leader, Bob’s broad experience working in many service lines and industries, on projects of varied scope and magnitude, as well as having covered a wide range of internal roles and responsibilities within RSM, gives him a broad perspective that contributes a unique insight when addressing client issues.

In 2017, Bob served as chair on RSM’s board of directors and formerly held a variety of leadership positions within the firm, including as national consulting managing director, national risk consulting leader, national consulting knowledge management leader, national private equity consulting leader, and West Region consulting and private equity leader. Bob has overseen a variety of matters related to the growth, profit and loss management, quality, training and methodology development, risk containment, and management of the business consulting practice across the firm. He has a deep background in numerous audit, tax, and consulting services across a variety of industries and company sizes.

Bob joined RSM in 2002 as leader of the risk consulting practice in the Upper Midwest, managing numerous Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), internal audit, enterprise risk management, and risk consulting client projects. Bob was previously with a Big Four firm and two Fortune 1000 companies.

Bob has extensive experience in and focuses on the financial services/private equity, life sciences, technology, consumer products, and manufacturing and distribution industries. He also has large-scale international project expertise. Bob is a certified financial services auditor and is certified in risk management assurance. He holds The NACD Directorship Certification®. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and he is a board member of Octane, Folds of Honor, and Institute of Internal Auditors, Orange County.

Bob did postgraduate coursework in accounting and finance at the University of Minnesota and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics at Carleton College.
