Alexandra (Alex) Reed Lajoux, PhD, MBA., founding principal of Capital Expert Services, LLC (CapEx), a diversity-minded firm offering expert witness search and related services, serves the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) as chief knowledge officer emeritus. She recently ran for local public office in her city. With 40 years of experience in industry, she is regarded as a trusted source of useful insights and introductions in the fields of corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions and the professional disciplines that underlie these two domains.
Dr. Lajoux served as editor in chief of the NACD publication, Director’s Monthly, for more than 15 years and helped NACD develop the world’s largest library of director-centric thought leadership publications. In addition, Dr. Lajoux has conceptualized and authored or coauthored all nine titles in the McGraw Hill The Art of M&A series (1989–2024) as well as books on valuation with Robert A. G. Monks (Wiley, 2010), on money with Peet van Biljon (De Gruyter, 2020), and on municipal sustainability (De Gruyter, 2021). Her articles have appeared in Financier Worldwide, Risk & Compliance, and Capital Insights, and her works are cited in more than 900 academic studies. She holds a doctor of philosophy in comparative literature from Princeton University, a master of business administration from Loyola University Maryland, and a bachelor of arts.
Dr. Lajoux serves on the board of Voices for Children of Florida Inc. (formerly the Guardian ad Litem Foundation of Florida's First Coast) as well as the advisory boards of Campaigns & Elections magazine and the Caux Round Table for Moral Capitalism; she is an emeritus member of the Board of M&A Standards. She is an associate member of the American Bar Association; she is a past member of the Global Forum for Governance, Risk, and Performance at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants; the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers; and the Recording Academy. She founded a record label called American Classic Recordings. She is a life member and past trustee of the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni. She is past VP of her HOA and a past member of her city's Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.
At Loyola University (Maryland) she supports the Jenkins Society with the Bernard and Alexandra Lajoux Scholarship. She holds a competent communicator certificate from Toastmasters International and has a certificate for audio engineering. She is a member Conserve Nassau, Federated Republican Women of Nassau, and the Amelia Island Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She supports Friends of American Beach, Friends of the A. L. Lewis Historical Society, and Friends of Notre Dame Cathedral. A 7th grade catechist at St. Michael Catholic Church, she is a volunteer Guardian ad Litem (court appointed special advocate) for children in Nassau County, Florida.
