What is the NACD?
Founded in 1977, the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) is a national non-profit membership organization dedicated exclusively to serving the corporate governance needs of corporate boards and individual board members. NACD's 17,500 members and customers represent companies ranging from Fortune 100 public companies to small, over-the-counter, closely held, and private firms.

What happens day-to-day at the conference?
Sunday, October 19 five consecutive pre-conference seminars take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.  At 5:00 p.m. the conference opens with a plenary session . Events during the conference include keynote addresses, plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, networking breaks and receptions, and the Director of the Year Banquet on Monday evening, October 20.

What are the Conference Start and End Times?
The conference opens on Sunday, October 19 at 5:00 p.m. at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC . The conference concludes Tuesday, October 21 at 12:30 p.m.  Pre-conference seminars begin at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19.

What does my registration fee include?
Your Conference Registration fee includes one-of-a-kind networking with director peers; participation in all Conference program sessions beginning Sunday evening, Oct. 19; The Director of the Year Awards Banquet; breakfasts, breaks, lunch and receptions; Access to the 2008 Sponsor Showcase; take home value: insights and ideas with immediate practicality in the boardroom; and Certificate of Director Education Credits (8); RMG/ISS Credit.

The Conference & Seminar Registration Package includes all of the above, in addition to a full-day seminar on Sunday with breakfast and lunch.

What are the Pre-Conference Seminars?
Attend a Pre-Conference Seminar on Sunday, October 19 as part of your conference package or as a stand-alone event. These interactive sessions blend peer dialog with the latest information and insights on specific board responsibilities and practices. Each is RMG/ISS-accredited and provides 8 credits for the Certificate of Director Education: Audit Committee Effectiveness; Executive and Director Compensation; Nominating and Governance Committee Drives Board Performance; Scrutinizing Financial Statements Seminar; and Family Business Governance Seminar.

What is the Refund/Cancellation Policy?
All cancellation requests must be received in writing via postal mail (Attn: Registrar), fax (202-775-4857) or email registration@nacdonline.org . All cancelled registrations will be assessed a $100 processing fee. For a full refund, less the cancellation fee, your requests must be postmarked or fax/email dated at least 10 business days prior to the start of the event. Cancellations postmarked or fax/email dated less than 10 business days prior will be assessed 50% of the registration fee. No refunds will be made with notification of less than 5 business days before the event start date. Registered attendees who "No-Show" will forfeit all registration fees.

Special guestroom rates have been reserved for NACD Conference 2008 attendees at the JW Marriott Hotel. All rates will be extended to attendees three days prior and three days following the event, based on availability. Hotel rooms can be reserved at the NACD special conference rate of $279 plus tax for single or double occupancy. How do I get to the Conference?
Airfare, hotel, and ground transportation are the responsibility of each attendee. The JW Marriott Hotel is conveniently located within 40 miles of three major airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National (4 miles from the hotel); Washington DC Dulles (27 miles from the hotel); and Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (40 miles from the hotel).

How do I register?
There are three ways to register: online, by fax or by mail. You may also register onsite at the JW Marriott Hotel on Sunday, October 19 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm; Monday, October 20 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm; and Tuesday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.

What is the conference attire?
The attire for the conference is business attire. Business casual attire is appropriate for pre-conference activities including pre-conference seminars.

Can I bring a guest to the conference?
Registered Conference Guests accompanying conference attendees may attend all social events, including receptions, breakfasts, breaks, luncheon and the Director of the Year Awards Banquet. A hospitality lounge open only to Registered Guests will feature scheduled activities including a cooking demonstration. Guest registration does not include attendance at Conference Education sessions, including general, plenary, or concurrent sessions. The Conference Guest Registration fee is $275.
